NDAWG - National Dose Assessment Working Group

The aim of NDAWG is to bring together people and organisations with responsibility for, and/or an interest in, the assessment of radiation doses to the public from the operation of the nuclear industry and from minor users of radioactivity. The main focus of the work of NDAWG will be past, present and future authorised discharges and direct radiation; initially the Group's scope will not include accidents or solid waste disposal.

There are two NDAWG guidance notes out for consultation at this time (Guidance on considering uncertainty and variability in radiological assessments and The estimation and use of results on exposure to Direct Radiation). These can be accessed from the guidance notes section located on the reports page.

A consultation has started on Guidance note 5: "The estimation and use of results on exposure to Direct Radiation". This consultation closes on the 26th February 2010.

A consultation has started on Guidance note 4: "Considering uncertainty and variability in radiological assessments". This consultation closes on the 12th February 2010.

Added a report from the Habits subgroup on the "Acquisition and Use of Habits Data for Prospective Assessments"

Added the Q&A leaflet on "Regulation and Risk of Radiation Exposure from Discharges", prepared by the communications subgroup
